Wellington landlord says council's rental warrant of fitness needs some work - 30th Oct 2017

Wellington landlord says council's rental warrant of fitness needs some work A Wellington Landlord volunteered to have one of his rental properties put through the new Wellington City Council Warrant of Fitness test. The property is only 7 years old and failed the WOF due to a broken porch light bulb and a requirement to have window stays added to some windows. While we are all for lifting the standard of rental stock in our City, the WOF appears to need some additional flexibility to better reflect the overall quality of the home. For instance, consideration could be given to major and minor assessment points where all major assesment points would need to be met (e.g. insulation) but you only required 18 out of the 20 minor points such as a window stay or light bulb.
